Believe!

Inspired by my favorite MLB team, St. Louis Cardinals…

They said we were done for the season, but we made the playoffs
They said we wouldn’t advance to the Division Series, but we did
They said we wouldn’t make it to the World Series, but we did
They said we wouldn’t last in the World Series, but we did… and won
Look at us now, we were down… but never out
We believed in ourselves, we gave it 100%
We won the 2011 World Series
St. Louis Cardinals… We BELIEVE!

My Apple Experience

I admit, that I’ve only been a Mac user since 2008. But to be perfectly honest, my income wasn’t enough to own one, before. My first computer was in 1995, it was a Packard Bell, running Windows 95. I used a computer at my job, doing Quality Control and was limited on what I could use. After seeing what you could do on that thing, I knew I wanted one. The computer lasted about 4 years, I had updated the hard drive, installed a CD Burner. Looking back, that thing was nothing compared to the Dell I replaced it with. My first MP3 player was a Dell DJ, that came out during the late 90s. I think it was a 15gb unit, not 100% sure. When Apple announced the iPod, I knew that was something I’d love to have. While running a DJ service from 1990-1996, I was constantly purchasing singles and albums. I remember having to shuffle through cassettes and CDs, just to make mix tapes for friends. Skateboards & Snowboards

I’m still looking into the whole snowboard and skateboard design thing. I see where eBay has the blank decks for sale, in a group. I thought about going that route, in case one of them were blemished. Right now, I’m going to focus on Skateboards, being they are smaller and easier to work on. After I give it a shot, and I like how thing turn out… I’ll consider the snowboard. Continue reading

2011 Resolutions

So, I’ve been doing some thinking about how I managed to screw up my resolutions every year. This year, I hope to make a change, and actually follow through with them. If not all of them, at least a couple. So with that said, here’s my list for 2011.

- Stay active and work out at the gym 3x a week (minimum)

- Start blogging like I used to.

- Work on creating a podcast, something involving TV/Music/Film

- Cut back on the Diet Coke/Coke Zero, and drink more water or iced tea

- Learn more about being an Angel Investor or get involved with a start up company

- Get out more, and find a girlfriend.

- Find out more information about acquiring a seizure response dog

- Learn to cook more, and rely less on the microwave

- Go to a Bears and/or Cardinals game

- Turn a few of my skateboard designs, into actual prototypes

- Build an iPhone/iPad Application

Have a safe and happy 2011, everyone!

Winter Thoughts

So here it is, almost December… where did the year go? I have to admit that this year was pretty quiet for me, minus a few seizures and a couple personal issues going on. The seizures were light, thankfully. I do have this feeling I may need to up the amount of Keppra, unless it’s something that I can’t control. Anyhow, the Bears are looking really good! It’s about time Cutler woke up, and stopped screwing things up. You watch, now that I said this… he will start screwing up again. :( Continue reading

Paramore

As the title says, this entry is about the awesome band. Last summer, I had never heard of the band, but that changed that September. While I was staying a few weeks with my parents, recovering from a seizure related accident, I heard a song that rocked. The song “Ignorance” was getting a lot of play on the radio, and I thought the band had a great sound. I did some looking around and found out the band had been around a few years. With the help of iTunes, I started checking out other singles, this was some awesome music! I started downloading the albums, singles and loaded them on my iPod. Normally, I don’t purchaser a lot on iTunes, but I couldn’t resist. I’ll be honest, Paramore’s music was the thing I needed at the time. Hayley William’s is an amazing singer, her voice just catches your attention out of the gate. It’s almost like she’s performing right in front of you, at least that’s how I feel it.

If it wasn’t for that one song playing on the radio, I would’ve missed out hearing an amazing band. I think a lot of my interest, is due to the fact they have some punk rock in them. For those who are new, or didn’t know, I’m also a fan of punk rock. My taste in music is all over the place, just ask some of my friends. In closing, I have to thank Paramore’s music for helping me get through a rough time. I was at a point where I didn’t know what was going on. If you haven’t checked them out, you really should.

Fall Thoughts

I have to admit, I’m a huge fan of Fall/Autumn. The leaves start to change, the weather starts getting more comfortable, and most importantly, Bonfires! I love a good bonfire and hanging with friends and family, it’s the little things that matter. I also love wearing hoodies, I could actually live in one for 24 hrs if you let me. I have 2 on hand, I’m actually looking into another.

Another thing that gets me going about the season, is the local Orchard and Pumpkin Patch. Curtis Orchard in rural Champaign is an amazing place, best cider I ever had. I’ve been on an apple kick the last few months, Granny Smith are my favorite but I found another to add. Honey Crisp apples rock! They’re somewhat expensive, but man are they good. I usually slice my apples and eat them that way, no dealing with the core. I’m open to trying other apples, what are your favorite?

I’ve been taking it light at the gym, the last few weeks. I’m hoping to get back into the groove, next week. I actually tried Bench Pressing for the first time in years, starting light of course. I have to admit, that area will be a challenge. I really need to find someone that can help spot me. I’m already lifting 100 lb.. on the Military Press, I’m very pleased about that. I also need to figure out a routine I can do at home, that will not piss off my neighbors. lol
